Battle news in Arakan on 4 October 2020
(Within 24 hours the Arakan Army reoccupied its small post that was temporarily lost for a day)
Myanmar is currently facing the second wave COVID-19 pandemic. But taking the spread of coronavirus as an opportunity and profiting from it politically, the war criminals and invading fascists’ Myanmar Army has been foolishly and irresponsibly launching massive offensive assaults against the Arakan Army.
The Tatmadaw True News and Information Team released a statement on 4 October 2020 that “a small post of us was seized”. That small post exists at the distance of about 700 meters away from the South-west of Aung Thar-Zay (Aung-Tha-Ze) village or 1100 meters away from the South-east of Htee Swea (Hti Zwe) village. It is one of the locations that the Myanmar Army has been launching long-term offensive attacks against the Arakan Army.
Thus, it has been over four months that the Myanmar Army has been attacking that place since June this year. The enemy has attacked that small post with the use of helicopter gunships, massive artillery shells and excessive forces. We had to temporarily abandon that small post on 3 October 2020. In addition, we have lost some ammunitions. Some were injured but no one has fallen.
At 17:30 pm on 4 October 2020, with obstinate spirit, great courage, smart combat skills and decisive order our Arrakha soldiers have relaunched decisive defensive action to gain control of the small post that was temporarily abandoned yesterday. The Arrakha soldiers were able to totally defeat and conquer the forces of the Burmese brigands-fascists-terrorists’ army amongst helicopter gunfire and heavy shelling from the enemy’s tactical command posts in Htee Swea (Hti Zwe) of Rathedaung.
Although the enemy had indiscriminately fired not only MRLS rockets but also with two helicopter gunships from their Buthidaung tactical command post at 19:30 pm on 4 October 2020 towards the combat area at night, the Arakan Army could defend their attacks very well with barely losing.
After the Arrakha soldiers have launched their operation for two hours, the abandoned small post has been completely reoccupied at 19:26 pm. Within 24 hours the Arakan Army reoccupied its small post that was temporarily lost for a day.
Over 30 troops including high ranking officers from 208 Light Infantry Battalion under the command of 22nd Light Infantry Division and 104 Light Infantry Battalion based in Mawlamyine and 102 Light Infantry Battalion based in Mottama under the command of 44th Light Infantry Division were killed. In addition to our lost weapons, a lot of enemy’s ammunitions and military equipment including 40 light weapons have been seized. Within 24 hours the Arakan Army reoccupied its small post that was temporarily lost for a day.
In a similar vein, a clash broke out at 16:28 pm on 4 October 2020 in another place 1 kilometer away from South-east of May-Loon (May-Lun) village in Minbya township that the Myanmar Army (aka) War Criminals, Invading Fascists’ Army has launched again offensive assaults towards a post of our troops. On 3 October 2020, the enemy had attacked our three posts in that area. More than 20 from the enemy side were killed that the Arakan Army was able to defend itself best.
Over 60 troops from the enemy side were killed in action during the battles on 4 October 2020. That day was the most suffering day for the enemy.
The Arrakha soldiers and heroes who bravely fought for their fatherland of Arakan and the people in the battles are proudly honoured and greatly recorded.
